Prepare a technology purchase for Mexico

Build your request around the exact configuration you intend to resell, then separate the product quote from the import arrangements. A laptop family name alone does not identify its keyboard, memory, operating system or regional version.

Match the model to your sales listing
For laptops, send the complete manufacturer part number and specify the keyboard layout, RAM, SSD and operating system you need. For TVs and monitors, include the full model suffix. Ask for confirmation of any specification missing from the product page before advertising the item to your customers.
Identify the importing business
Decide which business will act as importer into Mexico. Use the SAT’s Padrón de Importadores resource with your customs representative to review the registration applicable to your operation. Confirm the requirements for the exact products before committing to a shipment.
Separate the product and delivery decisions
Include the destination city and say whether you are requesting a handoff to your freight forwarder or asking sales to review another delivery arrangement. Request written confirmation of what the quotation includes, the warranty territory and the return process. A catalog listing does not confirm local Mexican stock.

Can two laptops with the same family name be different?

Yes. Compare the complete part number, not just the family name. Keyboard layout, RAM, storage and operating system can differ. If you accept an alternative model, list the specifications that must stay the same so sales can assess the substitution.
